Here it is! My first published work. In Chicken Soup For The Soul no less. And in a book all about angels, which I love.
All my life I’ve had unusual, amazing experiences but this one was truly out of the ordinary, even for me. I think that miracles happen in our lives every day. And we are so thankful for this one.
The story is mainly about our oldest daughter and is called Learning to Listen. I am grateful every day that I did listen. It saved her from what would have been a tragic accident when she was only a year old. Because of this I wanted her to be the first to know and the first to receive the book.
I kept the secret of my author debut from everyone…..even my hubby. So tough. Well, I did tell a few telemarketers. I had to tell someone.
I know you will enjoy this book. Every Chicken Soup for the Soul book I have ever read has at least one story that I could relate to, that helped me through stressful times or inspired me.
Here is an excerpt from that story called Learning to Listen.
One day I had set Eryn down on her blanket in just her diaper, surrounded her with her favorite toys and curled up on the couch to read where I could keep an eye on her. The fire was blazing away and life felt very cozy and complete.
I suddenly felt like there was a presence beside Eryn and a thought flashed through my mind.
“Move her to the other side of the room.”
“That’s weird.” I thought. “She is really happy where she is. Why would I think that?”
After looking around a bit I couldn’t see anything that could hurt her so I went back to my book.
A few minutes later I felt the presence again and this time it seemed bigger, as though it needed to get my attention. But again I put it down to imagination.
This time I heard the words in my head as though they did not come from me but were spoken by someone else.
“Move her to the other side of the room.”
Again, I looked around the area that she was playing and couldn’t see anything.
“It must be my imagination,” I thought. “There is just no sensible reason for me to move her.”
As I turned my eyes back to my book the skin on my arms prickled up. The presence became unmistakable.
“Vicky! Move her now!”
