Does a Lizard Have a Gizzard?

A child’s first years are filled with questions. It’s a new world to them and their curiosity takes centre stage in all things.

Yoga With The Youngsters.

I took our 8 year old granddaughter to yoga class last week. It was her birthday gift from Granny and Grandpa.  We’re trying to replace ‘stuff’ with experiences, instead.  This one was  a hit.  And they even learned that Namaste means “The light in me sees the light in you”

When I went to pick her up she said “I could do this forever!  I love yoga!”  She can hardly wait to go back and this time our 6 year old granddaughter will be going with her.  Bought her a cute little yoga outfit today.  And her little brother wanted a yoga outfit, too, so he can be ready to go when he is old enough.  Yahooo!!!

If you have mini-yogis in your home, you are going to love this info-graphic.  Easy poses for every day.

Every Day Should Include Play Time

water-fight-442257_1920Every Day Should Include Play Time

Play time for children is as important as good food and hugs.  In this blog, I am going to share crafts, playtime ideas, delicious creative foods that kids will love and all sorts of fun activities.

Play keeps your child healthy on every level.  They need to run and jump and dance each day to maintain a strong, growing body and get rid of some of that boisterous energy.  Play time also enhances motor skills, body awareness and confidence in their abilities.

Making food fun and funny will help them love meal time and encourage them to try new foods. Remember to serve foods from the rainbow.  Give them lots of bright colored fruits and veggies and they will enjoy their meals.

Emotionally, playtime will give them happy feelings, bringing laughter and self-confidence.

Today I Am A Monkey

Today I Am A Monkey

The first book in our Today I Am series, featuring Max, is up on Amazon. I can hardly believe it! To see my name as the author of a published book is pretty amazing, I must say. This one is called Today I Am A Monkey.

I was so fortunate to find an illustrator, Lucia Benito, who brought Max to life in a way I could not imagine. And with 2 little boys of her own, she understands Max’s character very well. She is now working on Today I Am A Tiger, so look for that one very soon.

This series is so much fun to write. The little boy, Max, is taken from our grandson, Warren. He is just an incredible boy. He’s smart, curious, funny, adventurous and loving.

Oh and that killer smile!! Warren

I know you and your young ones will enjoy Max’s adventures.

Blogging with a Little Help from My Friends

Oh gosh! I reread my title and had written ‘Blogging With A Little Help From My Fiends.” LOL Well, they would certainly have gotten a kick out of that!! I really did have to change it, though.

I like the idea a including some wise words from family and friends who have made a difference in my life. Some are authors, some are teachers, others are healers, great cooks or master gardeners; all of them have something to share and they have been there through all my bumpy rides and Yahoo! moments.

This is also a place for you to share. Since my first published piece has to do with angels, you know you are safe to share your own stories here. As others books are released, we welcome you to share your thoughts and ideas on those as well. If you came to criticize for no reason, you have taken a wrong turn.

Just a couple thoughts that I wanted to share.

We all choose our state of being or state of mind. We can choose to be miserable, cranky, rude or downright obnoxious. We can also choose to be kind, happy, generous, polite, tactful, compassionate, gentle and loving.

I like this quote by Abe Lincoln,

“People are just as happy as they make their minds up to be.”

When our kids were little I found a little book called One A Day Reason To Be Happy. It was wonderful and the kids really liked that, in every day, there was something to be happy about. Even bad days have moments where you can choose happiness, if even for a moment.

What’s your one-a-day reason to be happy?
